What is Direct Primary Care?
Direct Primary Care is an exciting new way of healthcare delivery in which the primary financial relationship is directly between you and your doctor. It is a patient-centered alternative to the traditional fee-for-service model where patients often feel like they are on an assembly line. In direct primary care, your doctor is motivated to keep you healthy, not limited by insurance company restraints, or burdened with unnecessary documentation instead of focusing on you. Your doctor is accessible 24/7, spends ample time to get to know you, offers individualized care, and advocates for you as you negotiate the rest of the healthcare system. All this, and much more, in exchange for an affordable monthly membership fee which may well be less than what you would otherwise spend on copays, deductibles, and unnecessary testing.
The office is currently accepting new patients. We do offer a complimentary no-obligation meet & greet with Dr. Polgar. We have been steadily growing, so join the practice before the patient panel is full.
Message From the Office
Uninsured? Cannot afford health insurance? Not a problem. In exchange for our affordable monthly membership fee, you get excellent acute and preventive care and management of chronic conditions. Through our affiliation with Sunrise Laboratories, we can also perform laboratory testing at an incredibly low price. While, it would be more optimal to combine your membership with a low cost (“catastrophic”) insurance plan to use for specialists and hospitals, with the direct care membership you get physicals, office visits, flu shots, EKGs, etc. covered. We will also help negotiate lower prices with radiologists and find affordable medications.
Direct Primary Care vs. Concierge Medicine: The major difference between the two is that direct care physicians do not bill insurance, their sole source of income is the membership fee. Therefore, they do not benefit from excessive testing, or patients coming to the office for unnecessary visits. If insurance covers some or all of the cost associated with a particular visit, the money goes directly to the patient and not the doctor.
We recommend combining a low-premium, high-deductible (“catastrophic”) plan with your direct primary care membership. It may help you save on healthcare costs and also enjoy the advantages of having a primary care doctor who does not rush you through appointments and is available when needed (weekends, house-calls, etc.)
We also offer substantial discounts to small businesses who want to take advantage of this cost saving opportunity while making sure that their employees get excellent primary care services. Please contact Dr. Polgar at (443) 864-5503 for details.
